Tanjung Puting National Park





         Tanjung Puting National Park is a national park located in Central Kalimantan, here there is the world's largest OrangUtan Conservation with a population estimated at 30,000 up to 40,000 orangutans in national parks and also outside of national parks. In addition the Tanjung Puting National Park is also a designated Biosphere Reserve in 1977 with a core area of Tanjung Puting National Park covering an area of 415.040 ha which is set in 1982. Tanjung Puting National Park has some type of ecosystem that consists of lowland tropical rain forest, the forest of dry land, freshwater swamp forests, mangrove forests, coastal forests, and secondary forest.


         With the status of a National Park and a biosphere reserve of TN this Nipple Cape can awake preserved and is one of the tourist attraction in Indonesia, in contrast to the conservation of orangutans found in Borneo Orangutans in the other we see man-made habitats. not in Tanjung Puting National Park we can see directly the natural habitat of the Orangutan directly and see their life in the wild. Tanjung Puting was originally a nature reserve and wildlife sanctuary with an area of total 305.000 ha.

         Tanjung Puting National Park is the first location in Indonesia as an orangutan rehabilitation center. There are three locations for the rehabilitation of orangutans at the Cape of good hope, Pondok Tanggui, and Camp Leakey.

         The Bornean orangutan has a dark reddish fur and has no tail. In line with the growth of his age, adult males develop his cheeks up to form pads. Getting older, the greater his cheek pads so his face was impressed seram.

        Tanjung Puting national park designated UNESCO as Biosfir Reserve in 1977 and is a Sister Park to country Malaysia.
